electronic clothes

this piece of cloth can charge your phone just by you being still. it can charge your electronic up to 15% in 8 hours. the temperature of the shirt changes by the area. from sleeve to collar bone could be 10 degrees different from the other side. this technology is 2 years away.
this is a cool innovation. it is futuristic. we wouldnt need cable chargers anymore
this solves the problem of cold clothes?

the internet changes the world

in the 1980s Cref's protocol allowed for computers to connect world wide.in 1991 Tim Burner Lee introduced the world wide web. an internet site named mossaic opened up and let users browse the web. cojmpanies soon started making websites and the internet became used commercially.
i think this innovation was great. we are able to communicate world wide. the earth is connected to each end as ever. this innovation solved a communication problem and that is great to have now. i can speak to my family all the way in El Salvador.

 Nanotechnology
Image result for nanotechnology
"Nanotechnology focuses on engineering at the “nanoscale,” one to 100 nanometers. The tools needed to see individual atoms were not available until 1981, so in many ways, this science parallels the computing revolution that facilitated it. Researchers have discovered that materials at the nanoscale can have unexpected and novel properties, resulting in a wealth of breakthroughs.

Until recently, the majority of work in nanotechnology focused on the development of specialized materials, including ultra-light polymers and crystals with special conductive properties. These efforts have accelerated microchip development, making it possible to envision a near future where transistor count is orders of magnitude higher than it is today.

As nanotechnology matures, it will make possible a world of nanorobotics. Theoretical nanorobots could complete manufacturing tasks in a fraction of the time required now. Likewise, nanorobotics could combine with genetic engineering and health informatics technologies to treat diseases like cancer at the cellular level."
this is great technology that is gonna be very useful for many new things. maybe it can be used to help the human body.

Ben Carson

First successful neurosurgical procedure on a fetus inside the womb, performing the first completely successful separation of type-2 vertical craniopagus twins, developing new methods to treat brain-stem tumors and reviving hemispherectomy techniques for controlling seizures, Carson became the youngest chief of pediatric neurosurgery in the country at age 33.He has received more than 60 honorary doctorate degrees, dozens of national merit citations, and written over 100 neurosurgical publications. In 2008, he was bestowed the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States.
he went to medical school and studied well.
technology can help him be more precise during surgery.
this is a cool achievement. but i do not agree with his pov or admire him because of what he believes in and how closed minded he is.

computer innovation

robotic nurse assistant
RIBA
RIBA is the first robot that can lift up or set down a real human from or to a bed or wheelchair. RIBA does this using its very strong human-like arms and by novel tactile guidance methods using high-accuracy tactile sensors. RIBA was developed by integrating RIKEN’s control, sensor, and information processing and TRI’s material and structural design technologies.
it will impact patients and nurses by helping them lift patients.
it will solve the problem of nurses having injuries.
i think its creative

he is the first man to run the mile in under 4 minutes. he couldnt afford school so he ran track in hopes to get a scholarship. he would practice 30 minutes a day.
technology impacted the race because it got exact time against his rival. he beat him by less than seconds. from this arete excellence i get that if you cant afford something, look for something youre good at and try to win with that.

computer innovation

artificial synapses
A brain-inspired computing component provides the most faithful emulation yet of connections among neurons in the human brain, researchers say.The so-called memristor, an electrical component whose resistance relies on how much charge has passed through it in the past, mimics the way calcium ions behave at the junction between two neurons in the human brain, the study said. That junction is known as a synapse. The researchers said the new device could lead to significant advances in brain-inspired — or neuromorphic — computers, which could be much better at perceptual and learning tasks than traditional computers, as well as far more energy efficient.
this will impact technology and its consumers.
it is not yet useful for anything. its just cool.
i think its useless.

1. In 2005 he was the world champion for dancing with swords on fire. he can dance with up to five knives. he is the youngest competitor to win the award.
2. this excellence was achieved by practicing everyday and setting his mind to it.
3. he could use technology to make the knives light up instead of using fire.
reflection: this is a cool achievement. he knows a really interesting and brave skill. not many know how to be this confident around fire. it must be a great cultural accomplishment.

Image result for car to car communication
1.it lets cars broadcast their position, speed, steering-wheel position, brake status, and other data to other vehicles within a few hundred meters.
2.this will impact consumers everywhere and make roads even more safe
3.it will resolve the problem of crashes and not braking soon enough.
4. I think this is a cool necessary and safe  innovation.

he makes lego sculptures that are 3d and pretty cool to see. he has the only lego only exhibitions. he was an attorney before focusing on art. he attended NYU.
this excellence was achieved by diligence and following his dreams.
technology can help him plan out his sculptures.
i think this is cool but not an example setting thing. he went to nyu. what struggle did he go through? nothing. cant relate.

blown to bits chapter 3

computers often mimic paper. many gasgets are used that do such things. such as the highlighter tool. and word document. paper is good but can only be stretched out so far. it has limitations/ as for a computer document that can be edited and rearranged, there are mush less limitations. whatever you do to a document even if you delete something it is not very hard to get back. the chapter also talks abut how everything digital is not real, they are representations of one another. real vs digital. this is an interesting topic because i never thought about it that way.

he is a yoyo champion. he achieved this by practicing his skills every day. i think youtube tutorials can help this skills by helping someone learn new tricks. this is an arate excellence because the kid achieved his goals and has several championships now. he is a great example. i learned never to give up.

blown to bits chapter 2

Chapter 2 of blown to bits talks about the safety of our devices. such as how dangerous the cameras can really be. we often think about the our personal use when buying a phone but we fail to think about how another person can be using that same gadget. we also dont think about our data trails and how the government tracks everything we do. and everything we do leaves a "finger print" just like everything we touch. but aside from dangers, there are also many advantages of the advancing technology. such as quickly taking out your phone and snapping a picture for evidence of a crime occuring right infront of you. there are many pros and cons about the privacy policy in today's internet era but through its controversy, for the majorities safety, the privacy policies should be kept as is.

corktown common park

this is a park that recycles rain water.every drop of water is used 2-3 times before it is evaporated or absorbed. there is a irrigation system built in the playground.
this innovation will affect the people in canada, making droughts less likely and being green community. it also helps reduce flooding.
this innovation is pretty cool and ive never heard anything similar to it. its very smart invention and a good way to put flood water to use.

centibots

a team of robots used to accomplish a single goal. such as mapping an area or looking for an object.
this will impact humans in a small scale.
it will solve mapping issues creating more accurate maps.
this is a cool innovation.

there was a safety net waiting for his landing
the safety cord helped because it safely slowed him down before landing

i think his achievement was because of his vigorous training and mindset.
this helps me reflect on my own life. i need to be a liberal person and take risks. i can achieve more by risking more but well thought out.

Arete

Marvin Goldstein

marvin achieved being a pianist at a young age. he was given an award at age 18. this excellence was achieved by his strict dedication to playing music. technology could have impacted his career by making music easier to write.
i think this was not excellence. he is a white privileged man that didn't face any discrimination, money problems, or real difficulty going into the world of entertainment or classical music. come back to me when a person of color with real struggles, achieves this.

GPS SYSTEM
gps system is a navigation system that helps you get from point A to point B. It can also help locate yourself when youre lost. this will impact everyone that travels. It helped with the problem of carrying a big map and not knowing how to read or use it. I think this is a good and helpful innovation.
